WASHINGTON - The United States (U.S.) closely monitor the evolving situation in Lebanon after the collapse of government in Beirut. Lebanon's cabinet could no longer function properly following the resignation of several ministers from Hezbollah group.

"We really understand the heated political tension, chaos, and in particular the threat of violence (in Lebanon) is a threat to the stability and security of the region," said Pentagon spokesman David Lapan as disitat AFP on Friday (14/01/2011).

Lapan added Washington has not sent a single warship to patrol the waters around the territory of Lebanon. The government, particularly the Ministry of Defense, the U.S. expressed hope that all parties involved to resolve the problem by peaceful means.Americans give special attention to Lebanon crisis

"We will closely monitor the evolving situation in Lebanon," said Lapan.

"The U.S. as the main supplier of military aid to Lebanon has a special relationship with the Lebanese armed forces," said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Philip Crowley.

"We are committed to do what we can to strengthen the sovereignty of the institution (the military) it as much as we want the Lebanese government remains strong," said Crowley again while calling for military assistance are vital means for Lebanon.

"I think we no longer need to review our assistance plan (to Lebanon), is not the time to speculate. We hope the new government will be formed through constitutional procedures," added Crowley
