97 Journalists Killed Worldwide in 2010

A total of 97 journalists killed worldwide last year as a result of their work, an average of nearly duaw reporters in a week, the International News Safety Institute (INSI) said on Wednesday (12 / 1).

Of all the journalists who were killed, 85 journalists were killed, said INSI based in London. The rest were killed in crossfire or by accident, including a cameraman in Guatemala who was hit by lava and rocks when he tried to take pictures of volcanic eruptions. "That's a very expensive price to pay for our news," said INSI Director Rodney Pinder. "Most of the victims rather than foreign journalists assigned to war, but journalists who work for their country, trying to dismantle the crime and corruption."
