Tunisia prepare Night Hours
Tunusia interior ministry announced the curfew in the Grand Tunis region starting from 20:00 until 05:30 Thursday. The move came after violent protests in several districts in the capital, with anti-riot police fired tear gas against the demonstrators.
Army tanks and troops have been deployed in central Tunis on Wednesday to address recent clashes between demonstrators and police but ignored the call for Interior Minister Rafik Belhadj Kacem a few hours earlier. This is the first time in recent years armored truck personnel and light tanks seen in the capital.
At a press conference Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi said Tunisia, the army has been deployed in certain parts of the country to protect the official buildings of the burning and looting. He added that security must be restored if the investment to proceed.
North African country that has witnessed clashes between security forces and protesters for more than three weeks. The protesters say they are angry about rising food and fuel prices and high unemployment.
