Ivory Coast President Banish British and Canadian Ambassador



Ottawa - Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo repel Canada and the British Ambassador in Abidjan. However, Canada and Britain ignore the expulsion order.

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon declared Gbagbo government of Canada does not recognize that the demand Gbagbo considered invalid.



Canada previously asked the diplomats to leave the Ivory Coast in protest at the refusal Ottawa Gbagbo to step down after losing Gbagbo on 28 November last presidential election. At last year's presidential election, Alassane Quattara defeating Gbagbo.

Britain also took the same policy with Canada. They ignore the expulsion of their ambassador in Ivory Coast.

Political strife in Côte d'Ivoire has paralyzed the country and sparked violence that has killed 173 people.

Economic Community of West African States has threatened to take military action against Gbagbo.

Gbagbo, 65, in power since 2000 and ruled as war broke out brothers. He maintained his power despite the expiration in 2005.
